Colours 2020 ONLINE DRAWING COMPETITION
FOR STUDENTS ACROSS TOOTHUKUDI

The Saint Poet Thiruvalluvar, in his timeless work Thirukkural wrote:

"Whatever may be the depth of the river or lake or pond,
whatever may be the condition of the water,
the lilly flower always comes out and blossoms."

His words echo the spirit recently demonstrated by the school children of Thoothukudi. Despite months of being away from their classrooms and friends, the creative spark never left their minds and instead shone brighter. In three weeks, over 5000 children put their young optimism to work, visualising the new normal as the world together combats the pandemic. We share their efforts here, hoping that these drawings inspire and motivate you to continue the fight.

Open to school students of all ages in Thoothukudi, the competition encouraged them to put on their thinking caps and come up with innovative depictions of the provided themes, ranging from ‘Make in India’, ‘Lockdown Days’, ‘COVID Warriors’ to ‘COVID Safety’ and ‘My School Post COVID’. The students could then submit their entries through WhatsApp.

The contest received a very enthusiastic response, with 2000+ entries received within the first few days itself. Every single participant received an e-certificate lauding their participation in this initiative.
